| A compilation of installation shots of the Venus tesserae models and drawings, shot outdoors at my studio (winter 2008/9; next to an abstraction of a National Weather Service graphic of coastal fires along the Big Sur coast (summer-fall 2008). The image infers a nuanced relationship between the increased level of fire risk as spring comes earlier each year-- and a ‘fictional’ attempt to imagine glacial melt in the distant North even as the fires strike home. |
