| Deep
cracks appeared in fields after the Parkfield quake (2004) A palimsest
overlaying surfaces shot at Soda Lake, of alkaline-encrusted quicksand.
The black, white and pink palette I associate with terror(terroir);
sleep-walking nightmares of childhood. Walking, looking at your
feet, as you move forward, cautiously, avoid the cracks, over quicksand.
You fall slowly forward as you walk as if you are about to relax
into a deep place and become immobilized. When a pillow was shoved
into my face that the loss of breath I felt immobilization move
towards blackout. Almost breaking through the skin of your body;
you disassociate. |
