| In January 2007 I filmed
inside the closed areas of Ballona Wetlands, My friend John
Trautman, an architect in Santa Monica who has lived all his life
in west Los Angeles, came with me. He drew a map of the larger
Ballona drainage with his foot in the dry wetlands gravel. The image
combines the impromptu mapping performance against recordings of
materials left inside Ballona-- a homeless camp with cooking materials;
notebooks; and along the adjacent bluff, polymer tarps. Developed
from video stills from ‘Ballona Report” an experimental
documentary film in progress 2007 to present, clip on slipstreamandromeda
channel, YouTube. |
