LIMESTONE WELL,
BITTERWATER ROAD, SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY
The first frames show evanescent cracks in fields near Parkfield,
California immediately after the Parkfield Earthquake of September
28, 2004 see http://earthquake.usgs.gov/research/
parkfield/index.php. Then
the images move to a handbuilt stone well/oasis in the Bitterwater
drainage, which follows the San Andreas Fault through the Cholame
region, south to Carrizo Plain.
I don't know why the water is bright-cerulean blue/green, it looks
like cyanide or copper. Only the cattle and blackbirds use this
site. An associated film, which looks at the blackbirds in
montage with another site near Hwy 101 where developers are building
inside a wetland. "Bitterwater
Blackbyrd" (2006) |
