Latency +/- transport, a 'real presencing'
, this is necessarily political, then, never not that, these art-actions.
Art is / not figuration beyond representation. Making moves, moving
inside spaces that cannot be otherwise mapped in fact the map is
generative like a living drawing-- these psychogeographic pathways,
these take us beyond each of us, beyond the belief or the illusion
of the difference/differance of terror. To be passionate about
this and to believe that this is possible always even in the most
terrible times is a value to live for-- even a charism/ a gift/
a love/ . In this way also we can return to Lygia Clark and her amazing
example of risk-taking to make art in the breach / in the leap from
comfort into zones of transport and healing. How to redeem the time? how
to redeem our time? So little we have of it, so much power in the
generative actions we can take?
‘Latency Structures’ touches
on elements in my oeuvre that remap or repurpose design strategies
from another field ( radical experimental architecture) and/or use
representational modes through displacement (geophysical visualizations
and mapping).
Latency: many the slip between cup and lip. Latency--potentially existing,
yet to come.
“So as to imagine a future not defined by trauma, acquiring
through its'repression and latency the power to become the dominating tendency'
(Griselda Pollock) You can have just a line there, not doing anything, and
then it can suddenly burst into life” -Laura Marks http://www.mindgap.org/index.php/laura-u-marks/latency/
"Concrete
poetry is a para-linguistic reality that may be identified because the linguistic
signs which participate in it (together with so many other signs) do not
intervene in the making up of meaning as units of languages with a double
articulation, but as signs which oppose themselves to the second articulation" (Ss
253),(22) that is, linguistic signs in concrete poetry are equivalent to
the elements of "artistic expressions" [expressions artistiques].
Augusto de Campos's opinion on the "social mission" of poetry: "The
true social mission of poetry would be to stir latent energies in language
so as to overthrow its petrifying dogmas, and to revitalize it. This is a
mission that takes place in the ethic and aesthetic exigences of true poetry,
which prefers running the risk of being unknown rather than being labelled
by the inquisitorial patterns of language" (Mc 114).(47) http://www.ubu.com/papers/pineda.html
