La Conchita mon amour is a moving image, photomontage and drawing project on a site of shrine-building in the aftermath of a landslide north of Los Angeles, by Christina McPhee (2005-2008) The project has received support from Experimental Television Center, New York; Thresholds New Media Collection, Scotland; and has shown in galleries, festivals and cinemas in New York, London, Paris, Los Angeles and Santa Cruz. The project was begun in 2005 and completed in 2008. The artistic strategy is to use the remix/cut/montage method of image recall and archiving as a performance emulating the patterns of re-iteration, repetition and displacement in post-traumatic stress disorder; to investigate the relationship between traumatic memory, site, archive and montage.
