CARRIZOPRIME 2006
<< Carrizoprime | Selected Video Still 1/6 >>
Polymorphous layers explore seismic disturbances in a psychogeographic terrain. Traveling along the San Andreas Fault, traces of events in the landscape appear without the possibility for their prediction, only for their probabilities. Remnants charted. Fault activities backdrop ruined homesteads, abandoned schemes in California Valley on the Carrizo Plain, and north to the deceptively serene ranchland at Parkfield, California.

The soundscape is built from p-wave recordings from the Parkfield Earthquake (M 6.0), 2004, just north of Carrizo Plain. The p-waves were recorded by the U. S. Geological Survey at depths of approximately 3 km, inside the San Andreas Fault Observatory at Depth (SAFOD).

Shot on location at the San Andreas Fault, Soda Lake, and Wallace Creek, in the Carrizo Plain National Monument, California, 2002-2006. Additional animations from video clips from the premiere installation of Carrizo-Parkfield Diaries at Transport Gallery, Los Angeles, 2005.
